Complementary Pollution Task

As a complementary task to the rain based challenges, this year, for the first time, we offer a complementary challenge in forecasting atmospheric pollution. As there is no hidden test data, there is no point in a public leaderboard. Delegates are encouraged to demonstrate improvements over the Aurora Baseline by a metric of their choice and share their work in form of a submission to the conference.

Your model can of course be entirely different from Aurora, you do not have to use it at all.

Submission

To submit a solution to this task, please describe it in form of a short scientific paper (4–8 pages + references). Ideally, for each model, you submit one paper describing your solutions, including all challenge tasks that you took in one paper. You do not need to include tasks that you skipped. If you wish to submit more than one model, please submit multiple papers, unless the models are very similar to one another. The deadline for the abstract submission is the same as the deadline for other competition submissions, which is November 12. We require the abstract to be submitted to arXiv.org (or a similar repository) and the code with parameters to  be available on GitHub.com by the submission day. Please include all relevant information in your email to w4c25@weather4cast.net in your submission.

Benefits & Awards

The submissions will be assessed by the Weather4cast Scientific Committee, with the best contributions selected to present at the Weather4cast Workshop at the NeurIPS Competition Track. Please note that you need to present your work at the conference in person or virtually in order to be eligible for an award.

Besides publishing your own work in the PMLR NeurIPS Competition Track Proceedings article, you will also be invited to publish a joint summary paper this year. Like last year, the NeurIPS organizers will provide free registrations for the leading submissions.
