Get the data
The Weather4cast 2023 competition data are identical to the data from the Weather4cast 2022 competition. The challenge has been upgraded though to ask for quantitative predictions! Note the updated simplified Terms & Conditions under which the data are now made available.
To work with the full data set you will need to combine:
- Static data, like the topology of the regions
- OPERA hi-res radar data for 2019 and 2020
- EUMETSAT satellite band data
The static and hi-res radar data are provided in the three files below. Unpack them all in the same directory. Note that the download of these can take a while because this server is on a slower network.
The satellite band data are much larger (ca 400 GB) and are made available via sftp here on ACOnet (Austrian academic inter-network). The access phrase is Weather4cast23! (including the exclamation mark). You can use lftp or other modern sftp clients to start or continue your download. In the end these files should be in the same directory structure as the static and hi-res radar data.
